The Scarce Joys of Xbox Live
I just thought I would do a small piece on when I'm happy I pay the 4 dollars a month for Xbox Live. Now most of the time the usual...quality of people on the service are rather low. Prepubescent... um, well douchebags is really the first term that jumps into mind. Yelling, screaming, cursing and generally making model use of the anonymity we are blessed with on the interwebs. (A note to these people, not everything in the world is "gay") Just this last Sunday I was relieved to get into a game of Team Fortress 2 with a surprisingly mature cast. Everyone sounded like they should be there, everyone was respectful. A good time was generally had by all. It's in these settings that the Live service really shines, a lot. It becomes one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in game ever. We won the game but I would have had a very similar reaction to the group if we had gotten beaten soundly. Just good fun with other people. Anyway there really is no way to manage this kind of behavior but the more people realize how it changes the experience, the better it is for everyone.
